Breakfast Sausage Seasoning Recipe (Jimmy Dean Style)

Breakfast Sausage Seasoning Recipe (Jimmy Dean Style)

This is my absolute favorite homemade breakfast sausage seasoning recipe. It’s very similar to Jimmy Dean, but I think it tastes even better. This works great for breakfast links, patties, or anything else you need ground breakfast sausage for. And if you want to turn it into maple sausage, just add syrup!

Ingredients

  • For 1 LB of Ground Meat
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Kosher salt

  • 1 teaspoon Dry parsley

  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground sage

  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon Dry thyme

  • 1/2 teaspoon Red pepper flakes

  • 1/2 teaspoon Coriander

  • 3 Tablespoons Pure maple syrup (optional)

  • For 5 LBs of Ground Meat
  • 5 teaspoons Kosher salt

  • 2 1/2 teaspoons Dry parsley

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Ground sage

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Black pepper

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Dry thyme

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Red pepper flakes

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Coriander

  • 3/4 cup Pure maple syrup (optional)

Directions

  • Combine all dry seasonings.
  • Sprinkle dry seasonings over top ground meat.
  • Pour maple syrup onto meat, if making maple sausage. If not using syrup, add the same quantity of water (because you need to add some liquid to the meat mixture).
  • Mix everything very thoroughly with hands, until seasonings and liquid and completely incorporated into meat.
  • The mixture is now ready to be stuffed into casings, formed into patties, or used for anything else that calls for ground breakfast sausage.
